My father inherited me a piece of land in Nicaragua. I want to sell it and I am planning to wire the money from the sale directly to my bank account in the US. It is about $100k. Do I have to report this money to the IRS? Do I have to pay any taxes on that money?

My house was assessed in the spring, and my property taxes went up $200 more a year, again! This last hike makes my taxes almost double what they were when we bought the house less than 5 years ago.
Do I need to bring any papers with me? Will they have records of my taxes there? What do I say to them? I don’t want to look like a huge ignorant idiot in the Assessor’s Office.

My sons are filed, but he is a Fl orida resident. He filed in Texas the year before with turbo tax. I did his taxes for him and when I got thru, it said to mail the signature form to austin texas. Now i am wondering if that is why the delay of his rebate check, plus he didnt file until april 3.

I know they take taxes out of the checks but then you get a check for the taxes that was taken out.I just want to know if i have to report all of that and repay the taxes on it when i return next year

I am a corporate entity. I hold a contest for which there is a nominal entrance fee. I want to use aggregate amount of entrance fees to award to a winner, based on some judging criteria. Do I have to pay taxes on the amount collected? Or does awarding the money to the contest winner count as a deductible expense?
