Well i own my own business and i had to send in my tax forms and i forgot so i am sending them in today. Is there a penalty for sending in my taxes late?

If you had to send a check with your tax return yes. There is a 5% per month failure to file penalty.

The penalty would have been less severe had you timely filing your chances of your chances of being audited next year.
An extension and paid portion of your chances of being audited next year.

If you get a refund, no problem. If you owe, they could, but if it’s just one day, then probably OK.

If you owe, yes. If you are entitled to a refund, no.
